Background: The HD9X was made for a very
limited time by Allis Chalmers from about 1953-55. . Based on the
information available, no one knows how many were produced and how many
have survived the last 50 years. The machine featured Baker Hydraulics and a
Baker Blade. This design was also used on the HD15. It was never ever used there
after.
Personal observation on the machine is that is is really odd to control. You are
like going up and down on a rocking horse. The linkages for the arms where
it connects into the truck frame would look like they get a lot of wear. And if
you ever lose hydraulic power or break the connection to the truck you will be
faced with a monumental task of getting it home to be fixed.
The advertisement was found by Mr. William Grohoski and it appeared in the
June 1954 Journal of Forestry. He was kind
enough to e-mail a copy. Many thanks again.
