IH TD9-91wide track --Canada
Great looking machine, Nice Bucyrus Erie angle dozer attachment,
used in Western Canada in the Cold Weather and in snow. He has modified the blade to
enhance its use in the snow. Yes, they will work just fine in the cold. The engine
has been rebuilt, and unit has had new paint and decals. The unit shows a very
good example of a very well built homemade ROPS with sweeps that can be designed for
the older machined that did not have one. He also has a featured project in the mix &
match section.
Tips and Trick Section of the Resource Page
has his great tips on how to increase traction in snow and ice and how to reduce risk of
engine compartment fires.

Nick has done super job with this machine and continues to work on the restortion of this fine mchine. This machine required extensive work to make into a running machine. You can see that it took a lot of work and resourcefulness to make this machine work again. He has made a website for his project and has provided very nice photos and details. Please click on the link above to see complete details. He also crafted a very nice loader bucket assembly for his unit and has some good close up pictures.
Dec 21-2002 Updates -New Home Page and Email address
snowflake is still running... but this summer will have a new head and rings and be 99.% of 'as new'. I also have finally found a good head assembly for my TD9 driving down an old 2-lane road .... and there was an old tractor farm . I got the entire head assembly from the head gasket UP! no cracks! and I got to see the rest of the engine all torn down to see it all piece by piece.

Very nicely restored T9, engine has been fully rebuilt and the owner is
currently working on restoring a TD6. Just got some more great pictures from on this
and the pictures have been posted in the Project details link. These great pictures
document how extensive of a restoration project that Mike undertook on this machine.

The TD6 is a 1950 and owned by Pat Becker from Waterford WI. My 1952 TD9
is in the middle. Then the one on the right is a 1936 T20 owned by Jim Kempf also from
Bristol WI like myself. That's my son Brad on the track waving he is four years old and
loves riding on dads bulldozer.
This picture says it all, the old machine brings family and friends together.
IH TD9 Drott w/ MF Backhoe

The pictured unit is a favorite of mine which is the TD9 with the Drott
4-1 bucket system. The owner is currently adapting a Massey backhoe unit to fit the
tractor. He also owns a TD6 that he intends to restore. He will be
providing updates as the project progresses. Look forward to more pictures.
This is great project on how to mix & match vendors equipment to achieve a more useful
piece of equipment
See down below for the IH 18A that he recently purchased

IH TD9
Project URL: http://www.srv.net/~cathyw/td9.html
This is another very fine example of a TD9 restoration project. The engine was fully rebuild and a lot of other work had to be done. The work was done in a small garage with just minimal tools. You do not need to have this big great work shop to do quality restoration and maintenance work. There are great pictures on his site and he does a super job of showing what he had to what it became

Frank was gracious enough to provide both pictures and short movie clips of his machine. He uses this machine in the New York Sate area. The HD5 was the most popular model that Allis Chalmers ever produced. It featured many innovations for its time and was an extremely solid machine. Many are still running to this day. The power plant was provided by a Detroit 2-71 motor. The owner of this unit was gracious enough to provide some very nice mpg movies. I am waiting for further details from the owner of this machine.

The owner is currently working on this Allis Chalmers HD5 Crawler. The unit is operational but the rails are so worn and thin they break easily each time you attempt to turn the machine. If anyone has any used rails in the southwestern portion of the US, please use the contact address below. The pictures show a unit that is intact and looks very good overall.

Caterpillar TWO TON --Australia

Glen Simpson of Australia has is the proud owner of this machine and one
other that he is restoring. He has a large number of pictures of a Two
Ton Caterpillar and is restoring an IHC TD 35. He as also owned and used a Drott 105
with a 4-1 bucket. He has created a heavy equipment message board for those
down under. Visit his site. There are some very nicely detailed pictures and a
written history about his machines and his restoration efforts and the message boards are
very good.
Recent Updates: Dec 2002
After much searching and persistence, Glen has found bearing shells for
the engine, radiator parts and continues to work as he has time in the restoration of this
old machine. I know that in his searching he has located an number of other parts for the
machine and could help others in keeping their equipment running.

Ken is working on; a full restoration of this T20 Serial # 1470. He has recently purchased several additional machines from which he hopes to restore this single machine. The unit is in California and appears to be in very good shape for its age. As Ken proceeds further on this project he will be posting further pictures and providing detail. Looks to be a great project to watch.

HOLT TRACTOR--Australia

Click on image to see larger version
The serial number is 71026 which is not a recorded serial number for the HOLT Tractor line
prior to its purchase by Caterpillar. The pictures of the data plate show that it is
clearly a HOLT machine and this is very likely the last known existing production unit of
this tractor. The machine is located in Quairading West Australia.
Looks like the history book for the Holt crawler tractor line will have to be rewritten..
Good find Robert. Robert has recently sent over some good pictures of the data plate
with serial number. Robert has two additional machines listed below.
Project details link describes the known history of this machine and the restoration
efforts. There is a lot of work being done to restore this machine.

This TD 9 is currently in use. The unit features a home made cable dozer

IH TD9-92--Australia

Click on image to see larger version
These are Robert's latest pictures of his TD-9-92. He has now
pulled the liners and is rebuilding the engine. He had quite a time getting them out and
had a very close call where the tractor shifted and pinned him in place. Luckily he
was not seriously hurt. He has several other rare tractors such as the Chamberlain
which is the only Australian produced tractor. The spare engine for the machine is
right behind this. This will be another of his projects that he will be posting
periodic updates

HD 21 Allis Chalmers Cable Dozer aka Bertha

Click on image to see larger version
This Bertha, HD 21, is located in Portland Oregon area. The
machine is a late 50's early 1960's model. This machine in its day was one of the
largest crawler made. Tractor weight alone was over 44758lbs before addition of the
blade and other accessories. The machine is in excellent shape and is used for
clearing land. The owner has made a custom built brush rake that will interchange with his
Massey 200. see below
Email: <jim@worldstar.com>
Massey 200 w/ Custom Built Brush Rake

Click on image to see larger version
This Massey 200 is a good looking unit and is located in the Portland
Oregon Area.. The unit includes a custom designed and built removable brush rake
that can easily attach to a wide variety of crawlers.
I do have a real brush blade that I had on a JD 450. It is a Mann blade with the top
framed and wired in. I think they sell new now for 1,500 to 2,000. I actually had it
mounted on the front of Bertha for awhile, what a combo Bertha and a brush blade, nothing
could stop us. He no longer needs the Mann brush blade and would be interested in selling
it. Contact him if you are interested.
Tips and Trick Section of the Resource Page
has his write up on how he built a great inexpensive durable home made brush
rake.

CAT D7 17A--Canada
Click on image to see larger version
This D7 was the first bulldozer that Robert learned to drive. It had
a number of non-factory modifications to deal with the machine's use in the Canadian
wooded areas. The Radiator and all engine side guards were fully hinged for easy access
and internal to the radiator they had a screen in place and just open the grill, grab the
shaking sting and shake and your radiator was clean as new. No washing. Neat idea.

CAT D6 LGP--Canada

Click on image to see larger version
Robert is currently using this unit. While not an old machine per se. What
is interesting is that it has what are called Rice Pads. These pads have a special shape
and are 42" wide. That is over twice the width that is on my HD9. Wonder if it will
float in water?

HD20 Allis Chalmers Cable Dozer

Click on image to see larger version
This Allis Chalmers HD20 from 1950-55 was the largest machine that was made by Allis. In 1955 it was replaced with the HD21--see above. The engine is a Detroit 6-110, the blade is a Garwood Cable Blade. This unit can push some real dirt. These are some great pictures showing a find old machine still fit and ready for operation. Someone built a massive ROPS and blade guard for this machine. The blade shows some very heavy dents which were the result of pushing a scraper.
It has been reported that the owner is a very meticulous mechanic, he did every thing to the factory specs to including new steering clutches and the hydraulic pump that runs the steering, The price is $10,500 will negotiate.
